(1) Project Overview

The Andachen Road Quarry Site Joint Use Cave Development Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Project is located within the Daxiangtuo Mountain in the Andachen Road Quarry Development Site in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong. The core components of the project include the construction of a rock cavern complex and connecting tunnels, which encompass the relocation of the Central Testing Laboratory to the rock cavern and the construction of two buildings within the rock cavern for the Government Records Service's Historical Records Center. The total land area is approximately 12,500 square meters, with a total floor area of approximately 48,300 square meters. The project is currently in the DDA (Detailed Design and Analysis) phase, focusing on optimizing system design to achieve cost savings, reduce construction time, and enhance functional convenience. Throughout the design process, BIM-based forward design methods are employed to coordinate with the client, architects, structural engineers, and various mechanical and electrical disciplines in real-time to resolve CSD (Mechanical and Electrical Pipeline Integration) issues. Using proprietary BIM hydraulic calculation and BIM quantity takeoff tools, the project can quickly extract required equipment selection parameters and material quantities. During construction, the BIM MEP model serves as a blueprint to guide on-site work, with visualization techniques used to predict construction conflicts, thereby helping to shorten the overall construction schedule.
